Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, the youngest of two daughters, Dianne often laughs that although she was not born on the west coast, she got there as quickly as she could. She grew up with a love of competitive horseback riding and sailing, two activities which aren’t entirely complementary to one another. Dianne would describe herself as a passionate, imaginative and expressive individual with a love for her family, friends and the community she has lived in since the age of 4.
A graduate of Glenlyon Norfolk School’s, class of 2004, Dianne was always active within the school community. In grade twelve Dianne was elected as the Community Service Prefect and completed her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
After graduation from GNS, in pursuit of represent Canada on the Canadian Young Riders Dressage team Dianne moved to Vancouver to train and compete. Dianne remained on the Young Riders Team until 2007 when her beloved mount Lester, suffered an unrecoverable injury which forced an early retirement. At which point Dianne re-evaluated her long term equestrian goals and chose to move back to Oak Bay, the community she loves, and return to her formal education.
Upon completion of her BBA in Marketing Communication Management Dianne began working with a few different not-for-profit organizations in Victoria on short term contracts before joining the BlackPress team, as the Marketing Coordinator. BlackPress gave Dianne the opportunity to work within the community she loved. In 2012-2013 Dianne was a member of the “Guerrilla Blackboard” team as a student in Leadership Victoria. During the Leadership Victoria program Dianne decided that Oak Bay was definitely where she wanted to call home and purchased her first house where she and her “fur baby” Ginger, a rescue Yorkshire terrier live happily.
In the fall of 2014 Dianne departed BlackPress and Oak Bay News to start MDM Publishing and YOUR Magazine Victoria.
